Turkish Fuel Services (TFS) has activated a major future-oriented infrastructure investment at our port, which plays a critical role in Turkey’s aviation infrastructure and serves as the sole fuel supply channel for İGA Istanbul Airport.
Recognizing that safety, continuity, and operational efficiency are the most critical elements in the aviation fuel supply chain, we provided a strategic response to the risk of seabed elevation and sand accumulation, which could potentially complicate the safe maneuvering of large-tonnage vessels. To address this, we launched a 1,000,000 $\text{m}^3$ dredging operation to enable ships up to 125,000 DWT capacity to dock fully loaded.
Thanks to this critical investment, the gains for our operations in the areas of safety, efficiency, and sustainability are as follows:
- Operational Efficiency: We maximize operational efficiency by transporting more aviation fuel in a single voyage with larger capacity ships.
- Supply Continuity: We guarantee the uninterrupted nature of airline operations and save time by shortening refueling durations.
- Environmental Sustainability: We contribute to environmental sustainability by optimizing our logistics processes and increasing resource efficiency through reduced energy consumption and carbon emissions.
- Safety and Risk Management: We maintain the highest level of safety by minimizing the risks of potential accidents and marine pollution.
- Competitive Strength: We reinforce our financial sustainability and increase our competitive edge by achieving cost advantages in the fuel supply chain.
This work, focused on safety, efficiency, and sustainability, will both strengthen TFS’s standing in the global aviation arena and support Turkey’s aviation vision with a more robust and secure infrastructure.
